We get dozens of video requests every week. Instead of trying to keep track of all the YouTube comments, keep them in order, and give credit to the right person in our videos; we are starting a new thread for video requests. I would like to see a video on how the passes go on a pipeline. I tought it called fleetwelds or fleetwelding. I mean, the HTP is apparently spool gun capable, like the Everlast, but there doesn t seem to be a real need for one on it.

Matt, can you briefly walk us through your story — how you started and how you got to where you are today. Triangle Engineering, Inc. Combining their talents and experience in welding and mechanical engineering, the company has established a national reputation for supplying the welding industry with materials, equipment and consulting for welder training, performance testing, and weld procedure qualification.

Triangle Engineering started as a machine shop completing various industrial repair work; such as machining hard faced valve spools, pump shafts and conveyor screws. Air Force. Through experience gained from consulting and servicing clients in the power generation industry, TEI realized the urgent demand for reducing the time and cost required to qualify welders using conventional testing methods. To solve this time consuming and costly problem TEI designed, patented and manufactured destructive test equipment that expedites the removal and bending of weld test specimens in accordance with the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel, American Welding Society, American Petroleum Institute and other governing welding codes.

When the demand for the destructive test equipment was realized TEI founders identified the industry need for readily available test materials used for welder qualification testing. From the interpretation of the various welding code requirements, TEI established standard weld coupons sizes in pipe and plate then began producing and stocking them regularly. Today, after 57 years in business, Triangle Engineering, Inc. TEI continues to remain an industry leader in the manufacture of weld coupons for welder qualification and also carries a complete line of procedure test materials.

TEI weld engineering and consulting throughout the years has also proven highly valuable within the industry as related to the application of a wide variety of procedure qualification materials. In addition, we provide a full range of testing services utilized by many organizations within the industry. Has it been a smooth road? This did not deter the thieves, instead they took a blow torch from the machine shop and attempted to flame cut the bolts loose.

In the process the thieves started a fire the destroyed the entire office and damaged much of the machine shop. The catastrophic fire did not keep the company down for long. The Company quickly relocated its office up the street to continue sales efforts. Employees work seven days a week and family members volunteered for months to help with the fire cleanup and rebuilding effort.

Much of the office records were lost in the fire but luckily all of the patented equipment fabrication drawings were salvaged and hung out on clothespins to dry after the firefight. Tell us more about the business. Triangle Engineering features the manufacture of pipe and plate weld coupons used for welder performance and weld procedure qualification testing. The construction industries largest contractors source their material needs from Triangle for their welder testing needs on projects across the globe.

The Weld Coupon Abrasive Cutter is utilized by many utilities who are constantly performing plant maintenance work and needing welders qualified. Being a successful 3rd generation family business and considered a leader in our niche industry is what we take pride in. Minimal lead times, exceptional customer service and continual quality assurance has helped us to retain loyal customers for decades while gaining new customers by referral.

This invention relates to the field of preparation of welded samples of tubing for internal visual inspection and certification. Inspection and certification of welds is a necessary and customary practice to a varying degree depending upon the criticality of the strength and purity of the weld joint and the particular industry or environment in which the welding operation is carried out. In some cases, examples of welds performed on butt-welded tubing joined by circumferential full depth welds must be inspected within the welded tubing to ensure that the depth of the weld is proper and that the interior of the tubing and weld conforms to specifications in the weld area. Indeed, in some industries and in accordance with specifications promulgated with respect to such industries, statistical samples of tubular welded joints performed in accordance with a particular specification must be visually inspected internally and otherwise to ensure that the samples and the welds meet the specification. Such samples of welds are called "coupons" or "coupon samples" and such samples are retained after inspection along with appropriate records pertaining to the sample for verification purposes.

This paper presents a novel straightforward method for ultrasonic welding of thermoplastic-composite coupons in optimum processing conditions. The ultrasonic welding process described in this paper is based on three main pillars. Firstly, flat energy directors are used for preferential heat generation at the joining interface during the welding process. A flat energy director is a neat thermoplastic resin film that is placed between the parts to be joined prior to the welding process and heats up preferentially owing to its lower compressive stiffness relative to the composite substrates. Consequently, flat energy directors provide a simple solution that does not require molding of resin protrusions on the surfaces of the composite substrates, as opposed to ultrasonic welding of unreinforced plastics. Secondly, the process data provided by the ultrasonic welder is used to rapidly define the optimum welding parameters for any thermoplastic composite material combination. Thirdly, displacement control is used in the welding process to ensure consistent quality of the welded joints. According to this method, thermoplastic-composite flat coupons are individually welded in a single lap configuration. Mechanical testing of the welded coupons allows determining the apparent lap shear strength of the joints, which is one of the properties most commonly used to quantify the strength of thermoplastic composite welded joints. Thermoplastic composites TPC have the ability to be welded, which contributes to their cost-effective manufacturing.

The term "Monster coupon" is used by Triangle Engineering trieng. The 6g monster coupon is used to provide a broader range of qualifications for a welder and often saves time and money by providing broader thickness and diameter qualification ranges without the need for multiple weld tests. Today we talk about a few more pipe welding tips… specifically stick welding the cover pass on a 6g 2 inch schedule 80 pipe test. In the 2 previous videos, I gave some tips for the root pass and hot pass. Both root and hot pass were done with tig. Since the root and hot pass just about filled up the joint, it would seem that it would be welded all the way with tig. But for welding certification tests, what is specified is not necessarily the best way. Eventually, I will do a 6g pipe test all the way out using Tig only… along with some walking the cup videos. Pay attention to the video where I show a different method of chucking up the rod in the stinger… as well as how I prop and collapse my hands as I reposition my body around the pipe. This method has worked way better for me than other techniques… and I can make it all the way from bottom to top without stopping and without a big ball of metal falling in the crook of my elbow and making me stop. It works for me. It may not work for you. But I offer it as an option… worth every penny it costs you to watch the video.
